Caring for Your Keepsake
Each piece created by Perennial Petal is individually handcrafted using real, preserved flowers and epoxy resin, making it a unique keepsake of your special occasion. With the right care, you can help maintain the beauty and finish of your piece for years to come. Please follow the guidance below to protect your treasured memories.
Cleaning
To keep your piece looking its best, gently clean the resin surface using a soft, clean micro-fibre cloth to remove dust and light marks. If additional cleaning is required, use a small amount of mild soap diluted in water, applied with a soft cloth, before gently wiping the surface clean. Avoid abrasive sponges, scouring pads and harsh chemical cleaners, including alcohol-based products, solvents and bleach, as these may damage the resin surface or affect its finish. Always dry the piece gently with a clean, soft cloth after cleaning.
Protection & Storage
To help preserve the appearance of your keepsake, display it away from direct sunlight and prolonged exposure to UV light, as this can contribute to discolouration of both the resin and the natural flowers over time. Avoid placing your piece near radiators, fireplaces or other sources of heat, and keep it away from areas subject to extreme temperature changes, which may affect the resin. Handle your piece with care and always lift it when moving it, rather than dragging it across a surface, to help prevent scratches and damage to the base. When storing your piece, choose a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight and potential knocks or impacts.
Natural Flower Colour Changes
As your keepsake contains real, preserved flowers, it is important to understand that some gradual changes in colour may occur over time. This is a natural characteristic of preserved botanicals, and individual flowers may subtly fade, darken or alter in tone as they age. To help protect your keepsake, we use the highest-quality UV-protected epoxy resin available to us, helping to minimise the effects of UV exposure and slow the potential for discoloration as much as physically possible. However, while our materials and preservation techniques are carefully selected to maintain the beauty of your flowers for as long as possible, their original colour and vibrancy cannot be guaranteed indefinitely. Protecting your piece from direct sunlight, excessive heat and other environmental factors will further help minimise these changes. These natural variations are part of the unique character of your keepsake and do not indicate a fault with the resin or the preservation process.
